The Daniel Libeskind Research Studio

Description

The Daniel Libeskind Research Studio existed at the HfG-Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe (University of Arts and Design) in Germany from 1999 till 2003. The HfG was founded in 1991 by the well-known art historian and former director of the German Architecture Museum in Frankfurt/Main Heinrich Klotz. It is an internationally renowned art school with a new concept of openness and interdisciplinarity among all faculties. Several famous artists and theoreticians such as Hans Belting, Klaus vom Bruch, Boris Groys, Candida Höfer, Stephan von Huene, Dieter Kiessling, Mischa Kuball, Marie-Jo Lafontaine, Uwe Laysiepen, Gunter Rambow, Lois Renner, Michael Saup, Christoph Schlingensief, Thomas Struth and Hannes Wettstein have been teaching at the HfG. The book presents all artistic projects and theoretical approaches created during the professorship of the architect Daniel Libeskind. Students from different disciplines – New Media Art, Stage Design, Product Design, Graphic Design, Architecture, Science of Art and Philosophy – researched about space and focused on different aspects of the particular topic. These works are documented widely within the seminar context. Additionally, various workshops, concerts and lectures held by guest artist, philosophers and musicians are presented. The book includes numerous photographs and illustrations as well as forewords by Daniel Libeskind and Peter Sloterdijk. It is bilingual in English and German. – Amazon
